Regen peitscht in mein Gesicht,
dann scheint die Sonne und blendet mich.
Ich schließe die Augen.
Lasse mich von dir führen.
Das Schwarz der Gräber umhüllt mich.
Und in der Dunkelheit
verstehe ich endlich
lachend
dass nur ich
bin.
.
.
Do you smell it too?
Your nostrils quiver in the wind.
I breathe in petals and cough
until I spit them out again.
Yes.
Death drifts through the fields.
It brushes my cheeks.
Tears freeze.
My heart bleeds.
And longing burrows through my belly.
I stagger.
But you pull me onward.
Your time has not yet come, the waves whisper.
They tell me that the past once lay in the present.
That the now goes by.
And opens itself to the future.
Cold, your hands clasp my fingers.
I stride forward,
because I cannot do otherwise,
and gaze sadly
upon the mediocrity of a world
that can comprehend
neither the depths nor the heights.
I sigh. Nothing happens.
You laugh softly, and your breath stirs the winds,
so that the branches groan and black clouds rush across the sky.
Rain lashes my face,
then the sun shines and blinds me.
I close my eyes.
and let you lead me.
The blackness of the graves envelops me.
And in the darkness
I finally understand –
laughing –
that only I
am.
